Everyone in Scouting knows who Lord Robert Baden-Powell is, but what do they know about the man who created Scouting and changed the world in doing so?
Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden Powell was born on February 22nd, 1857 in the Paddington section of London, England. he was named for his god father and his father was a reverend and a professor of geometry at Oxford University. His mother was the oldest daughter of a famous British Admiral, William Henry Smyth. He had four older siblings and two younger ones. He was very close to his younger siblings and with their fathers death when he was just three, developed a strong bond with his mother. [ read more ]
